London April-May 2006

Stand out in the crowd!

Doesn't matter where you are, someone can never keep their eyes open for a picture.

My attempt at a close-up photo. It looks pretty cool. See the detail of the water droplets.

London 2006

I just love the decor in this room!. It's tiny--maybe 350-400 sq. ft. But it's very cool. They have a stereo and DVD player and a great kitchenette. The best thing is the bed. It's extremely firm and I got one of the best nights of sleep on it last night. Or perhaps that's just because I was exhausted from the travel!

View from my flat in the Bayswater Somerset Hotel.

This is Nelson's Column in famous Trafalgar Square. We couldn't get any closer than this as the whole square was closed off for the Russian Winter Festival. Ironically, we heard one of the bands singing "Back in the USSR." Don't think so.

I had to stand in the middle of the street for this one! Watch out for the motorcycle! Just kidding. There was a median we could stand on. Yes, that is the clock tower of Parliament. Yes, Parliament is my favorite building architecturally. How did you know? Perhaps by the 20 pictures I took of it.

Horse Guards Parade is the setting for various military ceremonies throughout the year. It was the traditional entrance to the Royal Palaces and is still guarded by mounted sentries from the Queen's Household Cavalry. It is at this time that twelve mounted troops in traditional costume arrive from their Hyde Park Barracks.

The Smart Car

The Smart Car is London's answer to the compact car. I am standing directly next to the car. No camera tricks! This tiny two-seater is also a convertible.

Jacob's Baptism - September 2005

Posted by Picasa
We had a wonderful day at Jacob's Baptism. My family came down from Illinois for the special event.

Gigi caught these while at this Cub Scouting event. I am the unobservant one in the shorts behind them.

Orange on Orange - Jacob on a Fall day

This picture of Jacob was taken while on a family trip to Nauvoo. We were there for Noah's endowments in the Nauvoo Temple. On the Sunday that we left, we visited Brigham Young's house and these leaves had fallen from a grand tree in the backyard. I love the colors!

Adam's Personal Haircut

Adam decided to help me by giving himself a haircut. The funniest part about this (really, there is one) is that I had just finished his haircut. Needless to say, the version to correct this was very short.
